While Holland’s version of the character is certainly beloved, fans still wonder what Garfield would’ve looked like in the MCU. Instead, Sony worked out a deal with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man (Tom Holland) into the MCU (Sony retaining the rights to the web-slinger). Its lackluster success halted all planned sequels and spinoffs. However, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 received a mixed response from audiences.

Sony helped to kick-off an era of big-screen adaptations with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. Of all the superheroes depicted on the silver screen over the last two decades, the metamorphosis of Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man has been the most interesting.
